Invited over to a friend's house to help celebrate Makar Sankranti, an Indian harvest festival with Golu dolls. Something I previously knew nothing about. I love learning things my American education completely ignored.

Had dinner with our transitioning friend, and she has a court date for paperwork update with the state for name and gender change. Thrilled for her.

Managed to not watch any news today and read very little about the felon.

Finished the 4th book in the Becky Chambers "Wayfarer" series. Strong recommend for "cozy sci-fi". Good tonic for .

The sapients are kind, the stories small and intimate and what I needed right now.

There are many places here in California that are "no smoking" buildings and/or "no smoking within 20 feet of door."

This seems sane and reasonable to me, to avoid concentrated lung damage to those who didn't consent.

By the same health logic, shouldn't a self replicating agent that causes lung damage be treated at least as severely as a non-reproducing toxin?

Masks are being recommended now for first responders in the LA fires.

If it makes sense for individual toxins, why not infections?

@Tusky the last few days, attempting to follow someone in tusky on Android has given me the unhelpful "an error occured" Retry? Message.

Is there a log file somewhere I can get more information from to try to figure out what's going on? Client, server, my instance, their instance?

I mean, ultimately, it's going to be DNS. It's always DNS. But I'd like to see debug logs if there are any.

Watching some "Doctor Who" from a few years ago. Wife says there needs to be wiki for all the lore and coined the term "Who Wiki" (pronounced "hoowickie") which made us giggle.

I then said it needed an app, which could pull up info. It would be the "hoowickie doohickey".

Just finished Becky Chambers's "Wayfarers" series. Really liked it. The first and second books were more compelling, but all three were lovely views into the lives and times of the residents of her Galactic Commons.

While I found the third book least compelling, it was most interesting as an alternate future ethnography of a human society that could be.

Her funeral rites were touching, and portrayal of the invariants of family, community, and kid dynamics charming.

First, they took my double space after a period (yes, I understand the technical arguments) but that's muscle memory that won't go away. Search and replace and automation can handle that.

But now I find out possessives for proper names ending in "s" are s-apostrphe-s and not just s-apostrophe.
