It's probably not wise to say this, but personally:

• I flat out REFUSE to speak or pretend to understand Mandarin / Putonghua.

• Either you use Cantonese, or we stick to English

• Heck, I'd rather learn Korean or Japanese (heh... have nearly succeeded on the first one) than learn Mandarin
