I wouldn’t mind reading more stories told in the voice of the main character of “The Dreamers,” an odd prodigy numbed by war. The Vietnamese vocabulary he gets to show off includes “terror” and “horror,” and for this reader of King’s /Dance Macabre/ (1981), it feels like an unfinished symphony that he doesn’t also get to use “gross-out.”
