@ChristinWhite the last time i've checked their Lemmy instance was one of the few that actually cared about moderation in the way this side of fedi would expect (a lot of the others have too much of a reddit-esque "just block the awful people one by one yourself" smell to it, especially given how little of an effect user-level domain blocking actually has on Lemmy, acting more as a mute than anything), and my account is still hosted in their instance though I haven't been actively using the platform.
their Sharkey instance was also quite good at the time but i've since migrated off to my own self-hosted instance so i can't comment on their current state (though i can't see any reason why they would've regressed there). no clue on matrix unfortunately, especially given the lack of moderation tooling around matrix
