@ELS Yes! My PhD research was all about this relationship and I got to spend some time on a farm that specialized in "bug-bitten" tea. It was super cool to see how farmers evaluated fields for leafhopper damage not for pest control, but to decide when there was enough damage to harvest in order to get the desired effect. And the full effect of the leafhopper damage is only brought out through the additional controlled mechanical damage and water stress applied during processing. So cool!
