My wife and I were talking about #Trump.

When we finished she said she wanted to find a story about a turtle king that she had read years ago. She couldn’t remember the details but she remembered that it had an important message.

I did a quick search for something obtuse,

and there was a story by the great #DrSeuss,

Its title sparked interest - simply ‘Yertle the Turtle’,

and into its depths we hastened to hurtle.

A kid's book with a message - but for all of mankind,

Read it right now, with the Donald in mind.

It was written in times that were not so shifty,

Back in the days of nineteen hundred and fifty.

No one had heard of trickle-down economics,

Nor tik tok nor twitter nor facebook - just comics.

Read it right now and see where we are headed,

the paths we are on and maybe we are wedded.

As billionaires clamber for more and more power,

building and building on Trump's sketchy tower,

Freedom of choice from us all they will take,

as democracy fails and our world, it will shake,

As mother earth struggles and finally chokes,

On growing pollution and narcissistic blokes.

But still there is hope if we learn from a turtle,

That global destruction isn’t where we should hurtle.

His intentions they hide not even a bit,

and we can see that his plans include us not a bit.

Read it right now and give goodness a crack,

let's burp like a turtle, a turtle named Mack.
