It reminds me of a phrase I learned at a place I used to work: “who’re you gonna believe, him? Or your lying eyes?” Not only my lying eyes, but the lying video from as many sources as I want that I can watch and rewatch. And the moment even a tiny hint of “maybe” comes up, people BEND OVER BACKWARDS to justify him.
