All I wanted was for all the books, all the writing and art and images to be available and searchable in digital format. And that was exactly what Gutenberg.org did for books, and the internet for images as it emerged. I imagined this searchable library of words and images when I was hanging out in the MIT AI lab many decades ago, so it must have been in the air. And then it happened, and we all had so much fun and it was really mostly good. And then AI took a giant dump on it. 1/?
