But why would you want to follow pixelfed profiles specifically? Not judging, just curious. Is it because you want to see photography? You could use hash tags (searching for or following, see https://fedi.tips/what-are-hashtags-how-do-i-use-them-on-mastodon-and-the-fediverse/) for that as well quite effectively.
