I’m a little nervous about this one mainly because it sponsored by one Republican and no one else.
The title makes it sound good because it’s changing the notice from the #landlord from 30 days to 60 days if they want you to get out and you’re only on a month-to-month lease.
But then if you look at the text it says that seven days is sufficient in certain situations.
I’m not super smart about this stuff, but I looked at the RSA and this bill would say seven days is sufficient for notice if they are being asked to leave for nonpayment or lease violations or damage, but my brain isn’t helping me figure out what the current notice requirement is for that. So I suspect that everybody gets 30 days notice and now they want to change it so that you only get seven days notice unless they just want you to leave just because then you would get 60 days. (IF YOU ARE GETTING #EVICTED IN NH GO TO COURT, THEY PROVIDE A FREE LAWYER IF YOU QUALIFY & if you aren’t being evicted for doing bad things they will give you extensions. My mom got evicted for giving her notice and then deciding she didn’t want to move, she got 6 months or more because she showed them she applied & was on waitlists so she was trying. A judge wasn’t going to put an elderly disabled woman on the sidewalk just because she changed her mind about moving out.)
