The role of a technologist is not to lecture people about having fun. If the way people are having fun turns out to be harmful, that is something that humanities people should be addressing. You know, humanities, that discipline that technologists have been ignoring?
This isn't just about corporate technologies. When open source alternatives are frustrating to use and inaccessible, no amount of lecturing people about the evils of closed source code will get them to use your tech.
Make it usable, make it fun, listen to your end users.
