Firstly, it seems likely that the raft of articles published by the various Politics desks this week were sparked from a social media post by Leo Molloy. This apparently sparked another round of online abuse directed at Ghahraman. To me this reinforces that this wasn't news, but was just gossip.
The alleged incident was not reported to the Police. Based on what Fisher details and a barrister's opinion, it is likely to not even be provable as shoplifting.
