But alternatives could be bad too. Like having to rent while still owning an empty lot, or leaving the area entirely. Either of these would probably mean having to sell the burnt lot your home used to be on and probably taking a huge financial loss.
Despite the health risks and other issues, parking a camper on your driveway and staying put might be the best option for a lot of people.
It's a terrible choice to have to make but if people want to do that I think they should have the option. And if people do that, it's a way the original community is more likely to come back, instead of everything being bulldozed for mcmansions and gentrified.
