[#]Pixelfed and Mastodon are both part of the Fediverse, which means you can follow Pixelfed accounts from Mastodon and Mastodon accounts from Pixelfed.
For example @Iancylkowski is a Pixelfed account but you can follow it and interact with its posts within Mastodon by just clicking on it. You can see what this account looks like on its own server at https://pixelfed.social/Iancylkowski
There are many different kinds of server on here, and they connect together to form a single network called the Fediverse.
