When we encounter hateful, authoritarian Christians who like harming marginalized people, can we try to remember they existed before the Taliban?
They are not "the new Taliban" or "just like the Taliban"..
No. Full stop.
They are Christian bigots with institutional power. They're theocratic fascists.
They PREDATE THE TALIBAN (formed in 1994) by many hundreds of years.
Own it and get comfortable with criticizing it without scapegoats or xenophobic knee-jerk arguments.
