@Ungrimironfist @erikcats I'm going to go on a limb here and say that for the same way non-car people ask advice to car people, non-technology people should ask the person they think knows best about technology.
So for your mom that's probably you I'm afraid.
When you say "we need to have the right infrastructure to cater for all kinds of people", we already do, and good news you are now part of it.
As in you are part of the whole communication infrastructure that mastodon is.
There is no magic solution to finding the right place since everyone is different and want different things. But you know your mom, so with that in mind, you probably can start asking question that hopefully will lead to answers.
Answers you can then give to your mom.
