Who is we? Some agribusiness cartel that owns the degraded land?
Industrial agriculture is the number cause of climate and general environmental disaster, with mining coming 2nd. I suspect the EV trend will rise to 3rd place soon.
We need to start being specific of who "we" are, the subject, the object, who owns and controls the land we worry about.
