The very handy DH took it upon himself to construct new storage for our CDs in order to make them easier to use.
He used CD racks from our BuyNothing group, cutting them down, gluing them together and creating extra storage on top.
We have before photos and photos with the racks in situ, but videos not yet collated.

Wow.
Liz Cheyney's book Oath and Honour- a memoir and a warning is detailed and clear in setting out the case against 47 and ends with a warning that the second term will see a complete reversal of the democratic institutions of government in the US .
A brave woman

Australians are more likely to have solar panels on their rooftop than a pool in their back yard, but many still donβt realise just how common renewable energy is, or how much of the power mix wind and solar already supply, thanks to persistent misinformation campaigns.
A Climate Council study has found that a rise in anti-renewables media reporting and political campaigning β a relatively recent phenomenon in the context of just how long renewable energy has been operating in Australia β is causing people to think the country is much further behind than it is.
The study shows that Australians underestimate the level of popular support for renewables in their country, as well as how far the transition away from fossil fuels has come.

Just finished Nancy Pelosi's book "The art of Power" which starts with the break in and assault on her husband, and talks through many crucial and conflict ridden days in the USA Congress. She is very clear about 47s unhinged and dangerous nature's, and names names about the fawning reps who support him

Just finished Encountering Terra Austalis: the Australian voyages of Nicolas Baudin and Matthew Flinders by Jean Fornasiero, Peter Montwath and John West-Sooby.
I am intrigued by the thought that, with a few changes of circumstances, Western Australia could have been settled by the French.

It is a new 15 minute video about soil restoration in a very degraded part of Spain. There is much encouragement here.
Imagine if we did this in degraded parts of the wheatbelt!

Today we enjoyed one of the fruits of a decent train system (finally) and rode the lines from home all the way to the new Ellenbrook Station, caught a bus and got off in front of our son and daughter in law's place. Took less than an hour.
Most convenient! The son used the train line to go to the BBL cricket match the other evening and is thinking it is now so convenient he might take a season ticket to something sporty.

On the weekend there was a community post, from someone whose pond pump had died asking if anyone might possibly have one they could borrow.
We had a fountain pump here once, which hadn't been used for a couple of years. We were happy to donate it as our new, tiny, half wine barrel pond copes with a tiny solar pump to aerate the water.
Grateful guy has just been around with a reused whisky bottles, containing about 10 little native fish for our pond
Hope they all like it in there!

Finished my first book for 2025. Peter Frankopan's huge history of nearly everything, tries to put the environment into history and seek evidence for its effects. Did the Roman Empire fail due to climate change, for example?
For the first half I thought the "untold history" was the story of women. Women get more of the story in more recent times, but I think it is a failure not to have mentioned their labour and innovations in textiles for example.
As a whole it is a depressing story of lessons we failed to learn. How we thought we could control nature. How we might just put together a last minute sensible lifestyle, but " a historian wouldn't bet on it'.
