It depends so much on the individual cat. If you are able to adopt an adult cat whose habits are known, you can try to find a non-jumper that stays off counters. Our current cat is a very minimal jumper. He has gradually learned to climb onto the bed or couch, with our encouragement, but I’ve never seen him even attempt a counter or table.

The Breeze Pad type of litterbox makes liquid waste easy to deal with and keeps smell and tracking of litter to a minimum.
