I don't know who might ever need this, but I just learned that if you download and install Active Sync 4.5 from Microsoft on Windows XP, you can use tethering on Android, meaning you can use your Android phone as a wifi interface (which doesn't work out of the box on XP). Might work on Windows 2000 as well, but I haven't tested this.
Super handy if your wifi is WPA3 encrypted, which Windows XP doesn't support.
