@shockwaver I don't like taking medication but I do anyway. I hated it when I was a kid but was still made to for 10 years before I drew a line and refused to. Then I had the healthiest 10 years of my life after that...before things took a sudden turn. I still resisted medication for another couple of years (in part because it was too expensive but that's another issue).

I did get some "good for you" comments about stopping medication and not taking any for a while. I was teased as a kid. And now in middle age surrounded by mostly older people, I'm occasionally getting things like "everyone is taking something for health problems at this point in life" like there isn't a difference in experience or effects of ableism between people who were medicated in childhood and people who were not.

(also, thanks for reminding me to pick up my prescriptions)
