Interesting -- it's not too common at the grocery stores I go to in Brooklyn NYC, including the offending one here. It's more common I'll see something that it is a little bit too close to the use by/sell by/expiration date for comfort than something past it, much less ONE MONTH past, unless we're counting fresh produce. But it is possible that I may miss some things because of what I tend to buy.
