Like the core premise of capitalism is that contributing capital is valuable and people should be rewarded for it. (And I don't necessarily disagree with the premise, I just think there are other economic systems that make sense, too, and that perhaps contributing capital isn't quite as valuable as we're currently making it out to be.) But when it comes down to what value an individual contributed to an effort, capitalists do not want to be perceived as their value being their capital.
