happy Mothers Night, heathens! to those who celebrate. heathenry is a modern religion and practice based in lived experience and this is how it looks for me.
tonight i am honoring my female ancestors, Frigga and the Nornir. i have been dedicated to my Sisters for 28.5 years now and this is one way i show my devotion to Them.
Mothers Night begins my Yule time of spinning and divination for 12 days and all year i'll be using this yarn for sacred weaving. i gather my equipment on the 19th and start spinning the evening of the 20th and continue until all of the wool is spun or it's the 31st.
Mothers Night itself is for my Sisters and tonight i'll be doing divination for the year as well as just enjoying Their company.
i'll also use this Yule time to plot and write stories and do a lot of journaling, planning and reflecting for the old and new year.
i've got some projects i'm excited about starting and some that i'm excited about finishing. (and some that are languishing, but that's ok! i'm slowly but surely dismantling the productivity urge i was indoctrinated with and embracing being slowly and deliberately devotional. 😅)
