Enjoying how lovely our #cheerlights tree is! Made from a Raspberry Pi Zero W with Pimoroni Blinkt hat, a laser cut base and topper previously made by https://qwirkshop.co.uk, and a bit of Python.
Since they changed the way it works, last year I think (and removed the need to interact with garbage Twitter APIs, since there's a nice feed at https://cheerlights.com along with instructions and guidance, plus a Discord server and various integrations) there's only a limited range of colours available to display.
This is slightly sad, as it means my code that recognises all the HTML colours is no longer needed, and the custom routines I wrote, including rainbow and candycane stripes, are no longer triggered. But I've sneakily replaced some of the less useful colours with them ("pink", which doesn't render well on the Blinkt, now does candycane red and white stripes, and I've been inspired to write a subtle fireplace effect for "orange", which also looks a bit funny on the Blinkt).
This video doesn't show any of them nearly as nice as they look in real life, but hopefully this gives an idea. A fun project if you have any device with wifi and LEDs! (I believe @drlucyrogers once made a pair of platform boots with #cheerlights in!)
