It's hard to know what parts of this explanation by Jeff Bezos are the worst. There's referring to journalism as "our profession", as if he's a journalist. There's claiming that choosing 12 days before the election to make this policy change was just an unfortunate coincidence. There's the idea that this sort of blatant interference will increase trust in the paper. Oh, and there's not even taking ownership of the decision, saying only "It was made entirely internally."
