My latest project on my project car is rebuilding the brakes. All of it except the calipers. Even the parking brake and cables. So I figured I'd do the back first since the parking brake is integrated into the same rotor as the regular brakes. It's the old style with all those weird springs and stuff.
I got everything apart and was confused. Where was the parking brake? Nothing was there. When I inspected it, a former idiot had removed it, cut the cable and welded it to the backing plate. Then for some unfathomable reason he bent the little metal nubs on the big metal nub that hold the upper springs all to shit.
So now I'll have to cobble together a temporary solution. I'll run both cables and wire-tie the one with the missing p-brake in place, leaving it unconnected. Then I'll (also temporarily) replace the inner connector which ties the handbrake to the cable so it will work for only the drivers side (which was still there thankfully).
