Maybe "group initiative" is not ideal for online games. Last night I tripped over this three times: called end of combat round before all players had announced what they wanted to do.
At least I'll try and set up a strong visual cue for the group of players, or maybe a check list.
Holmes initiative might help too: act in order of dexterity: first missiles and spells, then melee, then movement. It may even be conducive to fictional positioning.
