Yesterday in a fit of optimism I tried to install Bazzite Linux on my Ayaneo Geek, my Steam Deck-like, in an attempt to make it a more streamlined experience over the frequently clunky and ill suited default Windows.
My girlfriend gave an immediate snort of laughter at the notion of installing Linux being part of any recipe to achieve these aims.
While there is much that is great about the distribution and the results many have achieved in with it, her instincts were correct. After many, many hours of faffing around I ended with a very nice user interface that couldn’t successfully launch any games.
Even if I felt like I wanted to figure out how to debug that, it would lack suspend/resume support and would require so much additional clunkiness to the current setup to boot back into windows to play the many fine non-compatible games that I felt the setup for me could not pull its own weight.
I look forward to checking back in if it becomes an officially supported hardware platform.
