My husband is an aspiring screenwriter. He wrote a modern remake of The Office, but most of the staff work from home. It's as horrific as it sounds. He wants my opinion but I don't know how to tell him he's a terrible writer.

@fesshole Offer construtive criticism and encourage him to reach out to other writers - either online or preferably in person. Chances are that he just needs practice and collaboration. Very, very few people jump into a hobby or new career with no chance of ever succeeding at it, if that's even what he really wants to do.
And unless you are a writer, chances are you wouldn't recognise a "terrible" one, anyway.

@fesshole once we've ruled out communication (obviously), then we're left with an increasingly complex web of lies so I'd go with that. Hope that helps!

@fesshole If you are looking for a pivot for your husband, I had this idea. (I'm not saying it's any good): "The Office" but it not being funny and quite mundane and no drama. It just kind of happens and very slowly develops towards not very much at all. Some projects are successful. Some are not. Some quarters are good. Some are not. There is no drama. No personal affairs. No big ups and downs. But over the course of 3 seasons you start to enjoy it in a weird way...

@fesshole this is clearly a subtoot. Specific enough that he’ll know you’re talking about him if he reads this. A cowardly way to provide feedback
