i do think this show is pretty good. but it's not very good at being a cartoon sitcom where wacky things happen each episode. it's way too sincere and earnest, and i don't think sincerity works when you're making an episode about pranking someone into eating a really spicy donut. i hope they stop trying to be pastel Regular Show soon.

again, i love Estelle, but i think it was a mistake to give a non-voice actor a role that requires them to be really stilted and monotone. i'm watching the episode where Steven imagines what Garnet's adventure was like, and the performance is so much better because she gets to show actual emotional range. it just seems like a really rough deal for her to be banished to the kuudere zone all the time.

i remember seeing a bunch of Rose x Pearl art before i started watching this show. and i of course understand why it exists. but i do think Pearl is a much more interesting character if she doesn't get to marry Rose.
i find "girl who is absolutely, delusionally obsessed with a woman who simply doesn't reciprocate, or maybe even uses that obsession for political gain" to be much more compelling than domestic fluff lesbians. basically i need my yuri to have a certain baseline percentage of toxicity to enjoy it.
