The most impressive quilt I ever made was a full-size Double Wedding Ring quilt for my sister's wedding. It was an adventure, because matching all the circlular arcs was challenging. And then quilting it was a whole other adventure. To add to the challenge, it's the largest quilt I ever made, and manipulating all that fabric through my little sewing machine was a hassle of its own. But the result was worth it. I've got to admit, I was proud of this one.

@inarticulatequilter Your quilt gallery made me smile! I love the ones with words in the design. They're like posters in fabric, and they really pop!

@CommonSparrow thank you! I love making word quilts, especially the improv ones. You don’t have to worry as much about lining things up, like with your double wedding ring. How you made that work is 🤯 and I’m very envious of your talent

@inarticulatequilter And I'm envious of anyone who is able to improv! I'm not creative that way, so I need a pattern and precise instructions to follow. "Winging it" successfully is a talent I admire.

@CommonSparrow we should do an exchange sometime, each playing on our strengths. Every once in a while someone proposes one here on Mastodon, maybe it’ll align for us both in the future

@inarticulatequilter What I like about the Daily Haiku Prompt is that it plays to both halves of the problem. It gives a roadmap for those of us who would never be able to get started without the help provided by the word of the day. And it gives us a pattern to follow by specifying Haiku form. But then it leaves us free to figure out where to go with it. There are endless possible ways to interpret the hint given by that word, and endless ways to combine seventeen syllables, so we must exercise our creative brain cells.
