@actuallyadhd My wife was upset that I'm up so early (4:50 here), but I cannot sleep for the life of me. Is it common to have insomnia with autism? I think the answer is yes, but it probably varies. My sister said she has the same thing.

@catswhocode @actuallyautistic @actuallyadhd I trained myself out of insomnia as a teen (sleep hygiene, bed is my safe space, meditation) but my daughter suffers terribly.

@catswhocode @actuallyautistic @actuallyadhd I had periods of my life with insomnia and really irregular timetables. But even right now my sleep patterns are weird: 3 hours 4 days, 8 hours 2 days, 12 hours one day, 5 hours 2 days... My Fitbit is desperate now 🤣

Very common. It also manifests as just really disturbed sleep. Lots of waking during the night, or waking and then taking an age to get back to sleep.

@pathfinder that's fascinating! I usually drink chamomile before bed, but didn't do so last night. Maybe that's the culprit. @actuallyadhd @actuallyautistic
