Green Day, ‘Dookie’ (1994)

Nope 😄 Cute memories, since it's the first album I ever bought for myself, but I heard it way too many times. And it's so poppy that even Disney tunes now have more grit. I'm bored.

I might keep the mock country Pulling teeth just for the fun of it, She and Basket case for the memories

Blink-182, ‘Enema of the State’ (1999)

Five years feels like a whole generation gap. Shining sleek but way punchier. Not a fan of the nasal singing, but I'm tapping my foot now.

Keep: What's my age again, Disentry Gary, All the small things

The Ramones, ‘Rocket to Russia’ (1977)

You will rarely be surprised by the Ramones, but they're clearly at their peak here. Sing-along good (but my preference goes for faster/harder again).

Keep: Cretin hop, Rockaway beach, Sheena, Surfin' bird, Why it always happen to me

Descendents, ‘Milo Goes to College’ (1982)

Uh, a classic band/album I never heard of? Wow, these are very BUSY songs 😆 Fun stuff but kinda hard to follow while running

Keep: I'm not a loser, I'm not a punk, Suburban home, Marriage, Bikeage, Jean is dead

Fall Out Boy, ‘Take This to Your Grave’ (2003)

And another 21 year jump into the future 😄 Ooof, this all slicked to a sheen. They reminded me of Less Than Jake at first, but some songs really are too Disney/teen for me. Still, a few solid running tunes.

"Sending postcard from an airplance crash Wish you were here" is a great title tho

Keep: Tell that mick, Grand Theft Autumn, Sending postcards, Chicago, Calm before the storm, Reinventing the wheel, The patron saint, Take this to your grave

This was a surprisingly successful experiment. Of course, I don't get the same attachment to these tunes I would get from "my" albums, but it feel like a personal radio. And yes, I guess most normal people get that from Spotify, but this is how I listen to music, so...

Buzzcocks, ‘Singles Going Steady’ (1979)

I must have had this copied on a cassette in the 90s, because I do remember some of these songs.

It must have been their first album, because I like the first three songs in this "best of" and increasingly dislike them the further I go.

I guess I'm just not keen on the new wave sounds creeping up in the latter part of these original punk bands...

Keep: Orgasm addict, What do I get, I don't mind, What do you know

Blink-182, ‘Dude Ranch’ (1997)

I once read how according to a study your listening habits crystalize around the age of 25. That's when your brain encodes a certain type of sounds to the dopamine centers. That's why the music of your youth literally feels better for us.

If that's true, we're in pure dopamine hacking here: I don't really care much for theses songs, but the frequencies are Just Right.

Keep: Pathetic, Damnit, Enthused

Paramore, ‘Riot!’ (2007)

I... guess I fell in love from the first song? I always had a soft spot for female-led bands (like the Interrupters) but this is good. Only concern: will they go too poppy/Disney?

epit: nope, they kick ass

Keep: For A Pessimist, That's What You Get, Misery Business, Let The Flames Begin, Cruchcrushcrush, Born for this

Misfits, ‘Walk Among Us’ (1982)

I know the band and their image since my friends covered "Last Caress" with their bands after Metallica played it at the MTV Awards, but I never listened to the albums.

Overall, a fun surf/rockabilly/garage companion to the Ramones. Good for the mix despite the samey songs

(Wow, these early bands sound QUIET compared to the hyper-compression we got used to later)

Keep: I Turned, All Hell, Hatebreeders, Skull, Astro Zombies,
