Today’s family viewing: the Rocketeer. Unexpected emotion bit: when the mob boss realizes he’s been working for a Nazi and is all like, “hell no, I may be a criminal, but I’m 100% American,” and proceeds to fight at the side of the FBI against said Nazis, because that’s what Americans do.

@Colarusso It remains at the top of my "dark horse" list of movies. Every time I watch it, I'm yet again 9 years old and I believe in heroes. I get teary-eyed when the spotlight shines on him, he checks his Luger, and Eddie Valentine (the mobster) pauses from tommygunning Nazis to smile and say "Go get 'em, kid!"
Just such a fun flick, and despite its financial failure, it made more "dark horse" lists than mine...Marvel selected its director for the first Captain America film, and it shows.

Loved this movie so much as a kid, and for some reason associated it with The Shadow and The Phantom

@Colarusso Jenny Blake: "Everything about you is a lie "
Neville Sinclair: "It wasn't lies, Jenny- it was acting!"😆

@Sabokeme my 6yo having never see the film before completed the exchange, blurting out “it was acting” before Neville. 👌
