@celestiallavendar I highly, highly recommend setting filters. Mastodon is set up so that it's easy to block the topics that you don't want to see, and the lack of an algorithm means people don't try to bypass filters.

For example, I have it set to not show me anything with the word "Trump" or the USPOL hashtag. I'll still see it, but it's a lot less.

You might want to add "self-harm" or "suicide" or "nazi" to that list, or have it flag and hide them, so you can interact with the content if you choose to.

@celestiallavendar The filters don't work 100% if someone I follow boosts it. Sometimes I unfollow people if they boost too much stuff that are unaligned with my values, like AI Art.

I've seen a lot but it also feels like fedi growing pains. I'm hoping people will get with the CWs, but i also know we are all going through a large traumatic experience as a whole right now, so it's annoying but i also understand that people are really overwhelmed and worried and not really thinking straight about what they are posting in the face of it.

Some people are new and haven't processed the concept yet, because it seems so far from the daily smack in the face of other platforms. That being said, nobody needs to see another Elon fascist salute. Anybody who missed it lives under a rock at the bottom of the sea. I think we just need to work in reminding each other why we do it. Kindness takes an effort sometimes and it comes from both sides surrounding that.

@celestiallavendar This is really missing an option for something like "I have seen it and I mute/block for it".

(Though IMO often doesn't have to be a CW. A filterable hashtag or name works almost as well.)
