I’m cheating on week 8 of the NHS C25K by doing a fast walk/tiny run when I’m supposed to run continuously for 28mins. Does that make me a bad person? #January #HeavyLegs

@CloudsGoBy You will know whether you are making progress a) compared with how you were, and b) against the target you've set yourself.
I "ran" continously for 36 minutes yesterday. It was little more than a slow shuffle but it mattered to me that I was running not walking. Psychologically it did me a world of good.
I spent the evening watching videos of hip and knee strengthening exercises as my rogue, unstructured "plan" is possibly not the best way to improve my running and protect my body.
I'm not sure I, personally, would do what Steve Cram whispered in my ear; nice as he is!

@aroundthehills I don’t think Steve and I are in a long term relationship- just a fling really and I’m getting a bit bored with him 😅 Seriously though I prefer to make my own schedule. I’m pretty good at challenging myself and sticking to it - just a touch of winter blues right now. I stand on alternate legs to brush my teeth and I’ve started doing squats when waiting for the kettle etc. Maybe a good strength workout video would help. 36 mins continuous is great btw!!

@CloudsGoBy That's a good idea. I HATE workout videos because (in my mind at least) they are full of thin, bronzed, fit, strong, beautiful people trying to motivate me. Why don't they just **** off?!
But .... I'm struggling to remember all of the different exercises so I might do some lunges and some squats then my mind goes blank. A tolerable workout video could be helpful.
What I'm just about to do is print out a sheet of 6 exercises to help me remember.
PS Sorry for the swearing! 😄

@aroundthehills This is exactly my problem and I’m with you on the 🤬. Actually the NHS has some videos I might check out - they seem to be fairly ordinary looking people doing straightforward exercises. I printed out some sheets once but have lost them

@CloudsGoBy I did my downloaded exercises this afternoon. Well, most of them.
Then your message prompted me to look for NHS videos and I've found some great 10 minute sessions for legs and bum.
The woman is not very annoying, although the background music is, so I muted it and turned on the subtitles.
I've now put one of my camping roll-mats in front of the big TV so I'm more comfy when I'm lying on my side and lifting the other leg.
I can feel that all of these exercises do stretch parts of me which hurt when I run, so I'm hopeful that they'll do some good if I do them every day.
I must try really hard to find that motivation!

@aroundthehills Excellent - will take a look. I’m extra lazy over exercises that involve lying on the floor, and having to get back up again. Which probably means I should do more of them.
