I fully understand the temptation of the city. It is a concentration of everyone who has a spark of ambition toward capitalist wealth aggregation, gatekept by the cost of living. That is invigorating. But I think those who can hack it there have a moral obligation not to.

I don't think enough people talking about rent control are willing to acknowledge that the entire reason you like the place you want to be able to live in is that it's unaffordable.

@chris__martin Not sure where you stand on rent control, but if rents get regulated, what actually happens is that supply drops, either due to the rent control itself or the cause of high rents, which is low supply. This causes a spiral, as developers flee highly regulated markets, and property owners refuse to rent their properties.
