The programmer is no longer acting as a translator to low-level computer languages. Programming is mathematics, it's knowledge building using very unambiguous languages.

It's not the hallucinations of LLMs that worry me, but rather the hallucinations of the humans building them.

If you want ad-blocking on Android and the desktop, there are only 2 actual options: #Brave and #Firefox

E.g., #Vivaldi doesn't do cosmetic filtering, which makes it useless for me (I also have DNS-level blocking). And Firefox on my Android phone has long-standing issues.

All that 🐘 Mastodon and 🦋 Bluesky have to do to win is to survive long enough.

E.g., Facebook is almost dead due to algorithmic timeline and AI slop, driven by revenue sharing with “creators”, Meta's strategy to deal w/ diminishing engagement. 𝕏 is following same footsteps.

I don't mind the industry-wide push for AI/LLM tools, as in the right context, they are useful.

I do mind inflated prices of existing services, e.g., Microsoft 365. Is AI an expensive feature? Not my problem, make it an optional add-on, or I drop that service like a hot potato.

Vacation is now over. Too long 😀 it was starting to get boring, glad to be going back to work, although my son isn't happy about starting school.

I kept my weight training at the gym, one thing I'm proud of this year.

The consistency, since I started in March, was less than my ideal of 3 workouts per week and I also had serious setbacks due to my asthma. But I kept going 💪

Having experience with computer-science (algos, data structures) or lower-level OS/hardware details is important for not getting stuck on new problems.

If you're just a library user, optimizing your knowledge for CRUD web apps, your work can already be automated by ChatGPT 🤷‍♂️
