Not to beat this into the ground, but I think it's an interesting side-by-side comparison. Let's look at the fundraising efforts for #Pixelfed and #FreeOurFeeds...
Contrast that with FreeOurFeeds. Light on details, grossly insistent on telling me all the "advisors" titles, weird site design, and all in support of something that is entirely unproven.
It's painfully evident, just in the fundraising alone that FoF is not substantive, and is not attracting meaningful interest. Or maybe FoF should set their sights a bit lower. Build something small to start proving out their claims, demonstrate this to the public and then ask to raise money, similar to what the Pixelfed team has done.
But what do I know...

tighten your tin foil hat but I think FOF might be intended to fail. to either prove the bluesky decentralization PR about other relays being possible is bullshit, or to show that nobody really cares that they are centralized. IDK. as I keep saying, it's only Cory's involvement that makes me take them seriously.

Seen this 4 dimensional chess theory before, and just don't buy it. Feel like these guys are practitioners of the corporatist adjacent Mozilla model, and see another opportunity here to ply their art.

The #OSS movement is swimming upstream against a kind of social inertia that seems to be based on the idea that we need billionaires and the VC infrastructure to "legitimize" building anything.
Oddly this sentiment ends up clothing itself in progressive / leftist language nearly as often as more right-wing or conservative messaging.
