Toot

Written by Flock of Cats 🐈 🐈 🐈 ❄️ on 2025-01-24 at 04:40

Does any one have a good recommendation for a 27-in monitor that can be easily acquired in Japan?

I will use it for mostly office stuff and very light games, movies, etc.

Preferably cheap, but not the cheapest. Good cost performance preferred.

@FlockOfCats isn't this what amazon is for? You can find everything from cheap shit to decent value stuff on there.

@Haikyoneko yeah I’m looking. But it’s a little hard to judge from specs alone when buying online, so if anyone had a good experience with something it might help me pick πŸ˜‡

@FlockOfCats I bought the smaller version of this one, so I can recommend: https://shop.tsukumo.co.jp/goods/0406621509012/

My main requirement was also cost performance, with a high refresh rate for gaming.

@jackonskates thanks! That looks right in the ballpark for what I was thinking :donki:

@FlockOfCats

I love my Eizo Flexscan. And I use it essentially like that.

@FlockOfCats I bought 1 in Akihabara and two on Mercari. Got a pretty decent dell 4k 27' for 3man. Would do again.

If you go for the LG ones you get a similar one for about 2man. No name even below that. All used obviously, but that should not be a problem.

I totally would only go for 4k. Full hd is visibly worse above 23' imo.

@FlockOfCats Sofmap is always worth a look as well. I got a near new LG monitor on there for a good price last year.

@FlockOfCats 4K nor not 4K?

I got a Dell 4K, with built in ethernet, usb-c that can do up to 100W. Got it on a sale for 60K Yen. Worth it.

@gullevek thinking not. Maybe next time I’ll splurge for it, but right now I think I’ll try to keep the cost down

@FlockOfCats Yeah, then I have nothing to recommend because I do not know monitors either. That Dell was just an emergency purchase because my older (12yr+) monitor finally kicked the bucket

@FlockOfCats those who buy cheap buy twice.

I mean I seriously would consider going for a used 4k. I loved the one @gullevek mentioned, but in the end decided against it because my docking station can do all this and it was nearly double the price πŸ˜…

Full hd on 27+ size looks grainy imo. You might get annoyed by it pretty fast, while 4k likely will be good for the next 5-10 years.
