Trying to figure out the logistics of leaving Facebook. It would cut me off temporarily from a lot of relatives and creative communities. But these days even if I am reading a good piece of content it feels like looking at a good book that has been printed on used toilet paper.

@Jgmeadows I never got on it, but I understand why others did. Lots of empathy. Rich people ruin everything.

@CStamp It will be tough getting older relatives to switch to something else. (I'm a young lad of 63 so I am more flexible.)

Make a list of the people you are connected to and schedule check-ins with them. Let them know that you're planning to do this and get their feedback on what alternative ways they would like to communicate with you.

I have been off Facebook for 15 years or more. People still contact me by phone or email.

@Jgmeadows I've just done that but I'll probably keep Messenger working through Beeper and just null route the website - I've always used it through a browser so I don't have to remove the app.

Other than the town's pages for police and fire and town news, I use it for almost nothing.

I would remove it except for those few uses.
