Got a smart switch and installed it the other day, and I gotta say, this was a lot cheaper than replacing all the (perfectly adequate, LED-powered) bulbs in the ceiling light with smart/connected ones; but whoah it took a whole lot of wrangling to do it right and squeeze all of these things back into the wall box ๐
(PS: looove these flippy WAGO electrical wiring connectors ๐ฉต)

@flaki Iโm impressed you managed to fit everything inside ! I donโt know if your wall boxes are bigger than ours, but even smaller relays wonโt fit here, I have to change the whole switch instead.

@nicolasf I have to open this wall box up again when I connect the other side of the switch, at which point I'll need to cable-manage better (e.g. trim the cables back) to be able to fit them in so now I just shoved everything back. It fit, but barely; I wouldn't call the wall box small, but the switch feels extremely bulky for the simple task it does, so maybe it will end up being replaced here as well...

@flaki this Shelly products are clearly designed for other parts of the world, where wall boxes are surely bigger. But even smaller relays, like Sonoff's, won't fit here.

@flaki I'm originally an electrician. There are deeper and less deep wall boxes. There are probably not so massive switches. But the biggest trap is the length of the wires. Initially, people tend to cut them long and then it hurts their fingers a lot to stuff it into the box.
Of course, if the wires are cut too much, they can't be stretched anymore.

@plsik yeah I said this in another reply that I need to rework the wires when I open this box up again to connect the other side of the wall switch; that will certainly free up a bit of space inside the box.
