Had a long chat with one of my personal tutees (students for whom I have pastoral care). Very smart, articulate, and funny young woman who is ASD and has a modest physical disability. She told me about an automated interview where the AI gave her some kind of feedback at the end. Apparently it "concluded" that she is not a team player and is anti-social. This could not be more wrong. I wonder whether she will get a rejection tomorrow… I'm pretty outraged. #AI #bias #risk #disability

@sellathechemist Maybe she dodged a bullet there. Just imagine working for a company that is crazy enough to think that using AI to do interviews is a good idea. I'm sure she can do better.

@statsguy @sellathechemist but the person who decided to use the AI might not be the folks they'd be working with :(

@geonz @statsguy @sellathechemist It reflects more on the company's general decision making culture and competence. If they can hire one doofus...

@martinvermeer @statsguy @sellathechemist Except there are so many, many such doofuses out there that it's hard to dodge them.
