Was subpoenaed for jury duty today.
I got up 2 hours earlier than normal, dressed in clothes I wouldn't normally wear to work, paid for public transport, went thru security, was issued down halls by a number of people, waited in a queue:
"Can you do a 24 week trial .... or you can be excused and probably get called again in a month or two when we'll likely have trials of a month or so. We normally do but not at the moment."
The subpoena did state a 24 month trial but apparently that's standard. I was hoping that I'd get something at least 2 weeks long but not nearly 6 months! (I'm currently on light duties at work which is more annoying than normal work)
The whole process where you have to attend court in person to be allowed to simply say no is rather annoying. I assume there is a good reason behind it but GRRRRRR.
