I think these folks are confused as to what "for free" and "not a paywall" mean.

Why not just state it honestly - "Enter your email to keep reading"?

@MichaelPorter Do people give up their email addresses anymore? It's so not even worth my time to go into my email address and mark them the spam so I don't see it again. That 5-second action is too much time to waste on a place that wants my email.

@PatrickoftheG I'm a big fan of Apple's "hide my email" and DuckDuckGo's burner email accounts. But for most articles I want to peek at, Reader view or the Printliminator bookmarklet are pretty good at sneaking past the gates.

@MichaelPorter @PatrickoftheG I have a gmail account for this purpose. It merely forwards the email to another gmail account.
