@babe I've taken up the habit of listening to the hurricane net (Americans and Canadian talking on ham radio about the weather, since the 60s) before sleeping. I find it somehow calming (when there are no hurricanes, that is).

There are regularly people that choose to make noise and disturb those conversations.

People flooding IRC are living in the future in comparison.

(bracing for someone having an even worse example)

@babe IRC was my first real internet experience back in 1994. Met some awesome people there. Four years ago it turned out a coworker of mine was actually an old acquaintance from IRC. We just never met IRL. Weird but fun.
