New nforced diet regime is sucky. No dairy (don't get me started on "vegan cheese") and nothing sbove 2g of saturated fat per 100g. Not quite at the "licking rocks" stage but the reality of trying to do this as someone who previously enjoyed food (not to excess, just enjoyed) is fecking miserable. Salutes to anyone going through similar for health reasons

@peejmaybe Vegan cheese is an abomination. I need to review my diet again as my medication really isn’t doing a lot for my digestive issues (as far as I can tell) at the moment so we may be doing it for different reasons I can sympathise

@Masterofsorrow I did find one mildly smoky variant of vegan cheese that was palatable. But the stuff goes off in such a short period of time compared to normal cheese (Why?!?) so I ended up chucking half the block away. Shame really as it was actually flavourful and had a decent texture. Still stank like stinky feet though!

@peejmaybe can you remember which one it was - Applewood perhaps? I just find the texture too rubbery for me. These days I refuse to eat Quorn and I’m rebelling against things that try to look like or taste like meat and instead focussed on making things like Tempeh, Tofu and Seitan taste nice!

@Masterofsorrow Nope this stuff - there's a link to their website, was quite reasonably priced and tastes way better than Applewood or other vegan equivalents. Almost as good as the real thing: https://lafauxmagerie.com/collections/la-fauxmagerie-cheeses/products/smokey-cheddah

100% agree on any of the 'fake meat' products. Quorn has never tasted great, though I quite like tofu

Very best of luck, that sounds really awful. Hope you can figure out some dishes you enjoy that you can eat. I'm supposed to be on a low sat fat diet myself, but nothing like this. Sending you very best wishes.

@Giselle Thanks. Most of it is breaking habitual picking up stuff without checking - Frustratingly for me I don't drink nor smoke, and don't eat any meat so it's not like I've got that much left to cut out!

@peejmaybe and now that I think about it, maybe rather than a virtual hug it would have been better to offer a virtual freshly baked durum wheat bread roll¹ just out of the oven (here it's dinner time), if you can still have those

¹ 800 g durum wheat flour, 480 g water, 3 g dry yeast, 11 g salt, makes 12 rolls
