@james I was trying to use an ‘assign’ statement in a non-rendering {% … %} block before a rendering {{ … }} block that used the variable, but I got an error when I tried to save the template.

@floehopper hmm. I think you'd need to share the specifics for me to debug. I can't replicate an error with some simple examples. That said, the only value the liquid templating was really built to support was "due".

@floehopper turns out it was simply because your string was too long to be stored in the database! (the task template name column was 255 characters).

So I can fix that.

Rendering the {% assign %} stuff is a bit ugly, I'll try to tidy that up too.
