My sister is a #SpecialEducation teacher.

Her principal is upset with her because she isn’t teaching the “5th grade TEKS” (TEKS being a Texas standardized test thing) to students who can’t add single-digit numbers and have to be walked to class because they can’t otherwise find it.

My sister tries to teach them what they can learn, but has been told she is to teach the TEKS for the grade level and nothing else, regardless of whether the children understand it.

@rk That’s messed up. Can’t teach a topic without teaching the prerequisites. Might be time to look for other employment options.
